Question: I just finished all of my treatments for Breast Cancer. I received the Anointing of the sick a year and a half ago when I was first diagnosed. One of my friends submitted my name to the Priest to receive the Anointing of the Sick again. Am I eligible to receive this Sacrament? CCC: 1520, A particular gift of the Holy Spirit . The first grace of this sacrament is one of strengthening, peace and courage to overcome the difficulties that go with the condition of serious illness or the frailty of old age. This grace is a gift of the Holy Spirit, who renews trust and faith in God and strengthens against the temptations of the evil one, the temptation to discouragement and anguish in the face of death. 135 This assistance from the Lord by the power of his Spirit is meant to lead the sick person to healing of the soul, but also of the body if such is God'...

Situation: Confirmation student asked, why do we genuflect? CCC 1378 Pastoral Response: We believe that the Blood, Body, Soul, and the divinity is present in all the tabernacles of the world. Therefore he is our king and we should genuflect to show reverence to our Lord Jesus Christ. We genuflect by placing our right knee on the floor and making the sign of the cross.

Why can't women be priests (or deacons)? CCC 1577 : Only a baptized man validly receives sacred ordination. The Lord Jesus chose men to form the college of the twelve apostles, and the apostles did the same when they chose collaborators to succeed them in their ministry. The college of bishops, with whom the priests are united in the priesthood, makes the college of the twelve an ever-present and ever-active reality until Christ’s return. The Church recognizes herself to be bound by this choice made by the Lord himself. For this reason, the ordination of women is not possible. Pastoral Answer: In the Old Testament, Aaron and his sons were chosen to be priests who acted on behalf of the people to worship God. In the New Testament, Jesus Christ is the High Priest. By Baptism, we become part of the "common priesthood" as part of Christ's Body in worshiping God. In contrast, Bishops and priests are in the "ministerial priesthood" who serve a...

**Suggest using wordcounter.net to count the words in your response.** CCC 153 - Faith is a gift from God CCC 162 - Faith is an entirely free gift that God makes to man, and it can be lost CCC 1254 - For all Baptized, faith must grow after baptism. Response You may have heard some people quoting Romans, “If you believe in Christ you will be saved”, and from the gospel of Mark, “He who believes and is baptized will be saved”. Many interpret this as we are saved by faith alone. We are taught that faith is a gift from God, and it can be lost. Our goal is to grow and strengthen our faith as to not lose it. When we are baptized, often as babies, we receive the gift of faith, but it must be developed. Our growth comes in the way of prayer, charity, and faith. This is our work. Thus we are saved by faith and works. We can then agree with St. James “As the body aprt from the spirit is dead, so faith apart from works is dead.”
